Packaging Forms and Nets

I took a book out of the library called 'Package Form and Design'. I've found quite a few nets that I think would work really well for the oriental meal pack.

1. Probably won't be using this style packaging as it's already a really popular shape for oriental take away boxes.

2. I like the closure on this packaging, I think it would be interesting if it were to be produced on a larger scale with the meal ready prepared inside.

3. Love the idea of using this shape for my main outer packaging

4. Slightly similar to the idea above. It would be good if I could somehow come up with a way so the contents pull out from either side.

 5.

6. This would be a good idea if I were to produce something involving sushi.

7. Again this is another typical oriental style take away box but its good to see how the net works to put it together.

8. Unfortunately there wasn't a net for this.

What will be in the meal pack

To help me out a bit and get me kick started I've decided i'm going to take an already existing meal for two and re-brand it completely. The Sainsburys website is really useful and you can get all the ingredients, cooking instructions, nutritional information etc from there so i'm going to take their 'chow mein meal for two' and come up with my own concept and packaging for it. I will be creating my own brand for this so it would be sold in other supermarkets as well as Sainsburys.

More Oriental Packaging

Quite clever having the chop sticks as a working feature for the handle on this, although not sure it's a great idea in terms of hygiene.

Typical Oriental Food Packaging

Although these are all really typical oriental take away packaging shapes, I really want to focus on the form for my concept and stay away from anything square/rectangular unless absolutely necessary.

Takeaway Containers

My personal thoughts on existing containers used for takeaway foods is that although they are suitable in terms of the fact they don't leak, the plastic tubs are microwavable so can be re-used...visually they are not very nice at all.

Supermarket Meal Packaging

Packaging i've found from various supermarkets for takeaway style food and meal packs:

Currently I have only looked online at what is available which is only limiting me to the outer packaging, I think I need to get myself to a supermarket and pick up a meal for two pack so I can see whats inside of them and how it is all packaged. I can then figure out if I want to continue this idea of one main outer packaging which has different elements inside or if I can come up with a concept which combines it all as one thing.
Whilst researching existing takeaway packaging I actually came across a blog in which someone had posted a response to the same brief:
